The Gregoria Apaza Women’s Promotion Center is a social development institution that has been operating in El Alto (Bolivia) since 1983, promoting equality and equity between men and women. It prioritizes the female population, both young and adult, aiming for women to enjoy better conditions for exercising their individual and collective rights and ensuring these rights are effectively applied and enjoyed.
We are looking for a person with skills to work in a team, listen, and dialogue effectively, with a strong attitude towards volunteering, open to working in intercultural and intersectional contexts, both in rural and urban areas. It is essential that the participant promotes feminism and values of justice and solidarity by supporting women in the prevention and guidance in cases of violence. Preferred education includes defense of women’s rights, psychology, social work, with knowledge in human rights and/or gender. Experience in similar organizations is preferred.
The volunteer will support the following activities:
- Planning, supervision, and logistical support in training on the prevention and treatment of violence in 17 municipalities.
- Systematization of the results of training processes, follow-up actions, and evaluations.
- Guidance and attention to cases of violence against women, with follow-up and monitoring of replication processes by women victims of violence in various municipalities and systematization of the attended cases with report preparation.
- Collection of life stories of women who have suffered violence and participate in CPMGA.
The work will be carried out in the office of El Alto, from Monday to Friday, and if necessary, on weekends, with occasional travel. The volunteer will work 35 hours per week, with two days off per month, and will always have the support of the staff.
We are looking for a person with the ability to work in a team, listen, and engage in effective dialogue, and with a strong volunteer attitude. It is essential that the candidate promotes feminism and values of justice and solidarity, supporting women in cases of violence. Experience in monitoring and supporting social organizations in advocacy and political impact is desirable, along with education in political science, political or social advocacy, or other related fields. Knowledge or specialization in human rights and/or gender is preferred, as well as the ability to use logical frameworks and draft studies and research. Skills in drafting policy proposals are highly valued.
The volunteer will support the following activities:
- Accompaniment and programming of activities at the CPMGA Feminist Leadership School, with supervision and feedback on training sessions for women leaders.
- Support in the design and implementation of CPMGA’s promotion and advocacy proposals, assisting in the implementation of their strategic lines.
- Systematization of citizen participation activities in various municipalities and compilation of reports.
- Advising social and women’s organizations in the preparation of documents and strategies.
- Participation in community networks and platforms.
These tasks will be carried out at the office in El Alto, from Monday to Friday, and when necessary, on weekends, with occasional travel to intervention municipalities. The volunteer will work 35 hours per week, with two days off per month, and will always have the support of the staff.
We are looking for a person with the ability to work in a team and a strong volunteer attitude. It is essential that the candidate shares and promotes feminism, values of justice and solidarity, supporting women in the prevention and guidance in cases of violence. Training or experience in communication and media management is required, as well as knowledge in human rights and/or gender. Skills in graphic design, text editing, and journalistic writing are desirable. Basic knowledge of photography and the ability to create content for websites and social media are also valued.
The volunteer will support the following communication activities:
- Organization and layout of content for the newspaper Contextarias.
- Editing and proofreading of texts.
- Writing and reviewing press releases.
- Coordinating the design and finalization for the newspaper’s printing.
- Supporting the coordination of guests for the social media program.
- Event coverage.
- Updating the website.
- Creating institutional content.
- Implementing CPMGA’s Feminist Communication Strategy and Radio Pachamama.
- Supporting mobilization actions and measuring the reach of campaigns.
- Promoting digital activism among young people and women activists.
- Monitoring the dissemination of messages through campaigns.
These tasks will be carried out from the office in El Alto, from Monday to Friday, and, if necessary, on weekends. The volunteer will work 35 hours per week, with two days off per month.
Training during the opportunity:
The volunteer will receive training in providing support for women who have suffered violence, using active participation strategies. They will learn procedures for the guidance and attention to cases of violence, following cases of denunciation, investigations, and systematizing monthly reports on care in various municipalities in Bolivia. Furthermore, they will gain certified linguistic knowledge through the OLS (Online Language Support) platform, develop intercultural capacity and awareness, problem-solving skills, and understanding of the humanitarian context. All acquired competencies will be certified through the Youth Pass.
